COMPUTATION OF LOW VALUE TRAIN ACCELERATION

1973
Train acceleration is highest at the lowest speed and vice versa. The range of the acceleration involved is from 200 cm/sec sub 2 to 0.4 cm/sec sub 2. Its nonoscillatory nature and presence of noise acceleration whose magnitude surpasses that of train acceleration, makes it unmeasurable with conventional transducers utilizing seismic mass. Computation of train acceleration from speed measurements is possible by analog and digital methods. Both methods have been discussed and a digital method is suggested for computation of train acceleration.
