The Hidden Curriculum: An Explicit Hidden or a Hidden Explicit-Which One is Followed by a Change within Medical Curriculum?

2019
The hidden curriculum is an important part of education, where the learner learns something during education which was not intended by the main curriculum, such as what learners learn from the behaviour of the teacher on the patient's bedside [1]. Lempp et al. argues: "The hidden curriculum deals with explicit and implicit methods in which knowledge and behaviour are created, what happens outside the usual planned formal curriculum, and is part of the school ’ s managerial and bureaucratic pressure by which students are forced to obey dominant ideologies governing the social activities in terms of power and authority [2]. The hidden concept of the educational layer refers to values, attitudes and behaviours that are not part of the formal curriculum; however they already exist in the educational context. What we do not learn, what we do not say and what we do not present or explain play a more important role [3].
