Resuscitation before cord clamping: the maternal experience

We recently established the feasibility of intubation and initiating ventilation prior to umbilical cord clamping (UCC) for neonates with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). The objective of the present study was to assess the maternal experience of this approach. This was a mixed-methods ancillary study of a pilot feasibility single-arm trial of intubation and ventilation prior to UCC among neonates with CDH.1 A multiple choice questionnaire was administered to mothers within 1 month after delivery. Mothers were invited to participate in an open-ended interview.
