Empirical shell model and. high-spin level structure of near-spherical nucleus Pm-142

2004
In-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy experiment for odd-odd nucleus Pm-142 has been performed via the Te-128(F-19,5n)(142)pm reaction. Detailed analysis of gamma-gamma coincidence relationships leads to a revised high-spin level scheme for 142Pm above the previously known 2 ms 8(-) isomer. The pi h(11/2)vh(11/2)(-1) multiplet and the (pi g(7/2)(-1)vh(11/2)(-1))(9-) state in this nucleus have been identified based on systematic of corresponding states in neighboring odd-odd nuclei. Configurations of several levels have been suggested from an empirical shell model approach. The 67-mu s isomer is proposed to be a fully-aligned 4-hole state with predominantly the ((pi g(7/2)(-1)d(5/2)(-2))(15/2+) circle times vh(11/2)(-1))(13-) configuration.
