Resistance to wear of Fe-10at%Si-15at%B alloy glass

1985
(Fe, Co, Ni)-metalloid alloy glasses are the new soft magnetic materials which have high permeability, low energy loss, high electric resistivity and high hardness. Generally, the resistance to wear is believed to depend on hardness. Since dry tests, close to the practical condition, are difficult with the constant experimental condition, a wet test has been developed. This test easily detects micro-changes in the resistance to wear at constant temperature and contact conditions during the wear test. The purpose of the present work is to investigate the resistance to wear and its cooling rate dependence for Fe-10at%Si-15at%B alloy glass by the use of the wet test.
