Hipertensión en el personal administrativo de una universidad pública de Huánuco, 2009

Objectives: Hypertension decreases the life quality and the survival of the population; it is an important disease to public health. The objective was to determine the prevalence of Hypertension and the related Factors at Administrative Personnel of Public University. Methods: Design was cross-sectional, prospective and observational study. Size sample was 110 people and we used probabilistic sampling. We used survey and take blood pressure (BP) to adult people. We described related factors to diagnosis of Hypertension. We used JNC VII. We obtained statistical association (p<0.05) with Chi2 about in qualitative variables and t-Student about in quantitative variables. We used SPSS. Results: The prevalence of Hypertension was 10%. Mean of Age was 46.8+9.6 years-old. There were 52.7% males. Only 4.3% was obese. Dyslipidemia was 9%. IMC mean was 25.5+3.7 kg/m2, Abdominal Circumference mean was 82.3+10 cm, Systolic BP was 109+13.5 mmHg and Diastolic BP was 72.6+8.7 mmHg. In analysis bivariate we found statistical association with age (≥55years) [p=0.010; OR=5.7 (IC 95% 1.6; 21.2)] Conclusions: The prevalence of Hypertension was 10%. Age (≥55 years-old) was major factor related to Hypertension. The systolic hypertension was prevailing.
