Experimental realization and characterization of the dispersion compensating optical fiber with lower bending losses for DWDM transmission in 1450 nm - 1630 nm band

2005
An experimental realization of the dispersion compensating optical fiber (DCF) for the dense wavelength-division-multiplexed (DWDM) fiber-optic link is reported. The negative dispersion is obtained within ±1.5 ps/km-nm from central wavelength in the wavelength region of 1.45 μm to 1.63 μm. The characterization of the fiber in terms of spectral attenuation, bend loss, single mode cutoff wavelength, mode field diameter and dispersion has been carried out. This work is useful for the optical fiber communication link that employs DWDM at minimum dispersion.
