Impact evaluation of communication as power : listening, inquiring, feedback

The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the Communication as Power workshop on the participants and their staffs. The Communication as Power course is one of the two-day workshops instituted by the Bank under the Action Learning paradigm adopted by the Learning Board in the spring of 2001. These workshops bring peers together to participate in small groups focused on a particular topic. By utilizing scenarios based on real Bank activities and inviting participants who face similar challenges. The objectives of the workshop are to increase the managers' capacity to: (i) Listen, inquire and give feedback effectively; (2) Manage complex and sensitive situations; and (3) Approach conflict with confidence. This evaluation study reports on the findings from three sessions of the Communication as Power workshop held during the winter of 2001-2002.
