The invention relates to a welding process by projection of an edge of a first aluminum sheet to a second sheet of aluminum. The method is characterized in that the bosses of placement on the first sheet enables ultimately to reduce the mass of the welded parts. This is achieved by lower tolerance zones required for the location of weld points. The invention also relates to an automobile body comprising elements welded using the method, and a motor vehicle comprising such a body.
