Preparation of Pd-103 seed-molecular plating of Pd-103 onto silver rod

A method for Pd-103 "molecular plating" onto the surface of a silver rod is reported. The optimal composition of the plating bath is as follows: palladium chloride 0.1 mol/l, formaldehyde 2 mol/l, nitric acid 1 mol/l, and formic acid 0.4 mol/l. The Pd-103 molecular plating procedure will last 25 min at 30 degreesC. This article provides a valuable experience for the preparation of Pd-103 brachytherapy seed. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd.
