Impacto da hidroterapia em recém-nascidos hospitalizadosof hydrotherapy in hospitalized newborns

2015
This study evaluated the impact of hydrotherapy in 10 newborns admitted to intermediate care unit, lifetime for more than 72 hours, clinically stable and undergoing to hydrotherapy treatment for ten minutes. Data were evaluated on two consecutive days, 1st day: without hydrotherapy and second day: with intervention. Regarding hydrotherapy, there was a reduction in respiratory rate (RR) and heart rate (HR) in newborns (38.9 ± 2.1) compared with no intervention (47.3 ± 7.5) (p = 0.0033) and (129.7 ± 7.9) compared to controls (146.3 ± 11.4) (p 0.0021), respectively and increased averages of SAT (97.5 ± 0.8) compared with no intervention (94, 6 ± 2.0) (p = 0.0002). There was also a decrease in pain scale scores Neonatal Infant Pain Scale after hydrotherapy (0.3 ± 0.7) compared to control (3.6 ± 2.2) (p = 0.0022). The criterion for statistical significance was p < 0.05. These results suggest that hydrotherapy can be indicated as a complementary method in the management of pain and stress in hospitalized neonates.
