Contribution of single-mode waveguides width on switching operation in ultra-compact nonlinear multimode interference coupler

This paper proposes the switching operation sensitivity to output waveguides width in 2×2 all-optical switches based on nonlinear multimode interference coupler. The switching performance for two states of switching demonstrates at special length, whereas any state needs special input intensities. Output facets width is a parameter that helps to optimize switch so that switching operations are arranged desirably in a special width. We study output fields as a function of outputs width to make the finding of the optimum width easily. Results show high sensitivity of switching performances to output width.
