Provided are an information reporting method and device. The method comprises: when a user equipment (UE) sends, to a base station, a confirmation that RRC connection establishment is completed, RRC connection re-establishment is completed or RRC connection recovery is completed, the UE reporting, to the base station, capability information and/or preference indication information for indicating a data transmission mode about the UE. The present invention solves the problem in the relevant art that an eNodeB cannot acquire the capability of the UE caused by the fact that the transmission optimization scheme support capability of the UE and a preference indication are stored in an MME and are not visible to the eNodeB.
