In this paper the novel concept of water footprint is used to access the impact of industrial pollution on water resources. Surveys and characterizations of wastewaters in seven food processing industries of Camaguey region supplied baseline information regarding wastewater composition and pollution load. Grey water footprint was calculated, considering allowable standardized limits and self purification capacities of water bodies. It is concluded that the grey water footprint could be a management tool to improve the availability of water resources.
