Klinische und immunologische Parameter des Parodonts in Abhängigkeit vom Hormonstatus

2002
The more than proportional occurence of aggressive periodontitis in young women and, as known from the literature, the influence of sexual steroids on periodont, was the reason for the investigation of 26 healthy women (11 with physiological cycle, 15 with hormonal contraception) in comparison to 15 healthy men by considering the hormonal state. PI, SBI and PPD were registrated, saliva was gained and in blood serum estradiol, progesterone and testosterone were determined, also phagocytosis and chemotaxis from sulcular granulocytes and blood granulocytes as subpopulations of lymphocytes. There were variations within the hormonal cycle and in correlation to the men. Sulcular bleeding in women was higher, sulcular phagocytosis, number of killing cells and some zytokines (IFN-γ, IL-5) were significant lower than in man. These facts can reduce the host defence and support an earlier manifestation of periodontitis in women.
