Performance of a dipole linear array antenna optimized using differential evolution algorithm

2015
In this paper, the differential evolution algorithm is employed to optimize the element spacing and length of mutually coupled 5 elements dipole linear array antenna (DLAA), to achieve maximum directivity (D), minimum half power beam width (HPBW), and maximum front to side lobe level (FSLL). Two different designs of DLAA are presented comprising of 5 elements such as one with optimization and another with without optimization to observe the dominance of optimized one over the other. To evaluate performance of the optimally designed 5 elements DLAA, a result comparison is also made with the 6 elements DLAA as found from previously published results.
