TOWARD A CASUAL MODEL FOR DIFFERENTIATING CARPOOLERS AND AUTO DRIVERS TO A MAJOR UNIVERSITY CAMPUS

1978
One of the fundamental areas of research before large scale carpooling programs can be implemented and evaluated is a development and testing of models that would help in differentiating carpoolers from non-carpoolers. In this paper a casual model is developed to "explain" the differences between carpoolers and auto drivers at a major university. The model is based on the statistical techniques developed by Goodman for extrapolating casual relationships from contingency tables, and recently operationalized by Mamon and Marshall. /GMRL/
