Effects of viscous dissipation and thermal stratifi cation on chemical reacting fluid flow over a vertical stretching surface with heat source

2015
This paper aims to investigate the influence of che mical reaction and thermal stratification of the no nlinear MHD flow with heat and mass transfer characteristics of an incompressible, viscous, electrically conductin g and Boussinesq fluid on a vertical stretching surface ipresence of viscous dissipation. A magnetic f ield is applied transversely to the direction of the flow. The basi c equations governing the flow, heat transfer, and concentration are reduced to a set of non linear ordinary differe ntial equations by using appropriate transformation for variables. The non linear ordinary differential equations are first linearised using Quasi-linearization and solv ed numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme. Then the sof algebraic equations is solved by using Gau ss-Seidal iterative method. The effects of physical parameter s on the velocity, temperature, and concentration p rofiles are illustrated graphically. Velocity, Temperature and concentration profiles drawn for different controll ing parameters reveal that the flow field is influenced appreciabl y by the presence of thermal stratification, chemic al reaction, magnetic field and viscous dissipation.
