Investigation of the plasma impact on liner samples in TEXTOR

1985
Various liner samples were placed on two poloidally different positions inside the TEXTOR torus using the ‘‘Swiss manipulator’’ for the first time. After 16 well‐reproduced plasma discharges, the samples were removed and investigated with SIMS and AES. The influence of plasma impact became clearly apparent in respect to surface and depth distribution of H, D, and O by applying a simple but effective test method of direct comparison between exposed and shaded parts of the specimen. Pronounced deviations of the poloidal plasma symmetry as well as a memory effect due to the preceding TEXTOR operation were detected.
