Synthesis and antiviral activity of some derivatives of remantadine

1980
Derivatives of adamantane are known to exhibit antiviral activity [i] and much research has been carried out on these compounds [2-5]. Remantadine, ~-methyl-l-adamantylmethylamine, is reported to be the most effective against the influenza virus [6]~ Remantadine analogs, synthesized earlier, also exhibit antiviral activity [7], and since one of these compounds was found to be active against both type A2 and type B influenza virus, further investigation of these compounds was undertaken.
