Pattern synthesis of phase-only reconfigurable linear arrays by nonlinear least-square method

2013
The nonlinear least-square method is presented for the synthesis of the reconfigurable arrays by only modifying the excitation phases. The proposed method is aimed at synthesizing two pattern beams or three pattern beams by means of the phase-only control strategy. This method is able to determine the common excitation amplitudes and the various sets of excitation phases at the same time. Several examples are provided to support the theory and to show the potential abilities and features of the proposed method. The simulation results show good agreements between the synthesized and the desired radiation patterns in main lobe area. Besides, the peak side lobe level (PSLL) of the synthesized radiation pattern is quite low.
