Optimization analysis method for piston rod of an automatic weapon based on secondary development of ABAQUS

Aiming at the fatigue crack of the piston rod of the first round prototype of an automatic weapon during the life test, this paper proposes an optimization analysis method of the piston rod based on the secondary development function of ABAQUS dynamics simulation software. Firstly, parameterized input was made to the piston rod simulation model through Python language and Plug-ins program, and simulation calculation and analysis were carried out using the display dynamics algorithm for the radius of the fillet with different sizes, the diameter of the rod with different sizes, and the radius and position of the load relief groove after adding the load relief groove. The stress variation law of fatigue crack position of different piston rod in the life test is presented. Finally, the optimization results of piston rods are verified through the test. The analysis results show that the method can effectively improve the efficiency of simulation analysis, and the purpose of reducing material and increasing life can be achieved by adding a reasonable load reduction groove on the piston rod.
