Metallurgical coal composition for negative electrode material of lithium-ion secondary batteries

2011
Provided is a metallurgical coal composition for the negative electrode material of lithium-ion secondary batteries that is useful for imparting excellent rapid charge/discharge characteristics. The metallurgical coal composition for the negative electrode material of lithium-ion secondary batteries is obtained by coking a heavy oil composition, which produces a metallurgical coal composition with a true specific gravity of 1.30 or greater, and if calcined at a temperature between 1000-1500°C in an inert gas environment, the metallurgical coal composition produces a carbide that satisfies formula 1: RD = -0.75TH mass% + intercept... (1) (In the formula, RD represents the true specific gravity of the carbide, TH mass% represents the total hydrogen content (mass%) of the carbide, and the intercept is 2.163-2.180 inclusive)
