Differences in maternal and fetal plasma zinc levels in sheep and goats

1970
Abstract From the data presented herein we have noted that there is a higher zinc level in the plasma of the fetus than we have found in the mother. This is indicative of a transport of zinc across the placenta and of an accumulation of zinc in the fetus. This is similar to the transport and accumulation of zinc in wound fluids at surgically inflicted wound sites and is further evidence supporting the role of zinc as a necessary factor in tissue growth.
