TheComplete AminoAcidSequence fortheAnaerobically Induced Aldolase fromMaizeDerived fromcDNAClones

1986
A cDNAlibrary wassynthesized frommaize anaerobic rootmRNA andscreened withcDNAspecific totheanaerobically induced Zeamays cytoplasmic aldolase. Atleast 1% ofthecDNAofthelibrary corresponded tomaize cytoplasmic aldolase. Thesequence offour overlapping cDNAclones encoded aprotein ofmolecular weight 38,611 homologous toaldolase. ThesecDNAswerepolymorphic atthree bases andoneof these cDNAshadadifferent, shorter 3'-untranslated region. Noknown eukaryotic poly(A) addition site wasdetected. Thederived aminoacid sequences ofmaize wascompared tothesequence ofaldolase oftrypanosome, Drosophila, andtwomammalian isozymes, A andB.Ofthese, maize cytoplasmic aldolase wasfound tohavethehighest homology (55%) with rabbit aldolase A.
