The Implementation of Metacognitif Approach in Investigating Students’ Reasoning Skills

2020
There are many learning models or approaches used in the learning process which aim to improve students’ skills in this 21st century. One of them is the ability that supports students in solving everyday problems such as scientific reasoning skills. Therefore, the government pays attention to improve skills that can support students competing skills in the current era. This can be seen from the implementation of the 2013 curriculum which emphasizes the thinking process and student’s learning experiences when obtaining scientific concepts. Scientific reasoning itself plays a role in developing the ability to think and act, so it is very influential on academic achievement. Metacognitive learning is learning that instills awareness of how to design, monitor, and control what students know, what is needed to do it and how to do it, focusing on students’ learning activities, helping and guiding students if there are difficulties and helping students to develop concepts when studying mathematics and science. Therefore, this study aims to explore further information on how to apply the metacognitive approach to investigate the scientific reasoning skills of students in one school in Aceh. The data collection in this study used observation and interview. The results of this study are expected to explore the implementation of metacognitive approach in developing students' scientific reasoning skills.
