1989
In developing its North American Navigable Database, Navigation Technologies Corporation (NavTech) faced a series of logical and physical database design issues relating to the use of the database for automotive navigation. This paper explores several recommendations and solutions drawn from NavTech's own experience. The paper also discusses NavTech's three-phase approach to developing database technology to achieve the goals of extreme database accuracy and completeness, without sacrificing high efficiency in database production.
