Effects of glutamic acid diethylester and kainic acid diethylester on discharges of renshaw cells

1981
Abstract Renshaw cells of the cat were excited by microiontophoretic applications of acetylcholine, l -aspartate and l -glutamate. Glutamic acid diethylester (GDEE) and kainic acid diethylester (KDEE) reversibly reduced the discharges of these cells elicited by ACh and the excitatory amino acids, indicating a non-selective antagonism. Kainic acid diethylester was more effective than GDEE. Synaptic responses to ventral root stimulation and spontaneous activity were less affected.
