Deformation-driven modification towards strength-ductility enhancement in Al–Li–Mg–Zn–Cu lightweight high-entropy alloys

2022
Abstract The applicability of lightweight high-entropy alloys is limited due to the significant coarsening propensity of brittle intermetallic compounds. Deformation-driven modification was offered to exploit the microstructural potential. Eutectic phase fragmentation, grain refining, and formation of the T1 phase were used to achieve high strength (674 ± 35 MPa) and tenable ductility (7.5 ± 1.0%).
