Cyclic crack resistance of rotor steel as a function of loading conditions

1987
1. At a cyclic loading frequency of 50 Hz corresponding to the nominal frequency of rotation of rotors of two-pole turbogenerators, hydrogen does not have a negative effect on cyclic crack resistance. 2. At low loading frequencies (less than 10 Hz) a sharp reduction is observed in the growth of fatigue cracks in hydrogen-saturated rotor steel, causing a need to reduce the length of operation of rotors with a low rotation frequency in the operation of hydrogen-cooled turbogenerators. 3. The frequency of low-cycle loading has an independent effect on the life of rotor steel in air as well as in water.
