Biological Characteristics and Allelopathy of Invasive Plant Euphorbia maculata to Three Lawn Plants

2010
By means of bioassay in laboratory, the effect of different concentrations of aqueous extract from Euphorbia maculata on seed germination and seedling growth of three lawn plants, including Trifolium repens,Festuca arundinacea and Poa pratensis, were studied in this paper. The results showed that:(1) The aqueous extract of Euphorbia maculata could inhibit the seedling root length of three receptor plants significantly, and this inhibition strengthened with the increasing concentration.Among the three receptor plants, the synthetic inhibitory effect(SE) on Trifolium repens was the strongest.(2) The concentration of 0.01 g·mL-1 and 0.02 g·mL-1 of aqueous extract had the promotion effect on seedling height of Festuca arundinacea and Poa pratensis. The concentration of 0.01 g·mL-1 of aqueous extract had the promotion effect on viability of Trifolium repens and Poa pratensis, but the promotion effect were not significant. The identification test had proven the aqueous extract of Euphorbia maculata had the phenol chemicals.
