Laser microprobe mass analysis of soot and soot precursor particles

1995
In flame combustion research the study of gas-to-particle conversion and the subsequent aerosol evolution occurring in or above flames is important for providing fundamental understanding of the flame combustion processes and developing control strategies to limit combustion products relevant to health and environmental concerns. Laser microprobe mass spectrometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) have been applied to particles collected in the flame to characterize particle chemical composition and morphology.
