The development of MgO-Al2O3-C slide plates

MgO-Al 2 O 3 -C based slide plates with different formulation have been studied. The MgO-Al 2 O 3 -C material, with the same high strength, thermal shock resistance like Al 2 O 3 -C based material, and good corrosion resistance like MgO-C material, incorporates advantages of both. As compared to the common phenol resin, the boron-modified resin used as binder improves CMOR and HMOR, as well as oxidation resistance and hydration resistance of MgO-Al 2 O 3 -C material. Trial in a steel plant proved the good performance of MgO-Al 2 O 3 -C slide plates for casting high-oxygen steel.
