Microwave assisted antibacterial properties of Zn doped CoFe2-xZnxO4 nanoparticles
2020
Nanoparticles of pure and Zn doped CoFe2O4 of the composition CoFe2-xZnxO4 (x=0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) have been successfully synthesized by microwave gel combustion. Anti-bacterial analyses of these samples were studied by using disc diffusion method. Anti-bacterial properties of pure and Zn doped-CoFe2O4 was studied using Escherichia coli as Gram Negative and Staphylococcus aureus as Gram positive bacteria. Antibacterial activity increased with the increase in the concentration of Zn in CoFe2O4. These synthesized pure and Zn doped CoFe2O4 nanoparticles pave the way for developing cost effective, eco-friendly and promising antimicrobial nanomaterials for applications in medicine or in the management of variety of diseases.
