The morphology study of polyacrylamide prepared by inverse emulsion polymerization

2013
A comprehensive experimental investigation of the inverse-emulsion polymerization of acrylamidewas carried out using awater soluble initiator and a sorbitan monooleate as emulsifier. It was found that the increasing redox initiator (potassium persulfate/sodium bisulfite) and monomer concentration increases the volume average diameter (Dv) and decreases the number of polymer particles per unit volume of oil (Nt) of the prepared polyacrylamide latex particles, while it is obvious that increasing the emulsifier concentration, stirring rate and oil content in water-oil mixture decreases thei‚‘Dv and increases Nt of the prepared polyacrylamide latex particles.
