Imaging of a Mediastinal Thymic Carcinoid Tumor With Radiolabeled Somatostatin Analogue
1996
A patient underwent imaging with In-111 DTPA (Octreotide) as part of investigation for MEN-1 syndrome and possible therapy with nonradioactive somatostatin. Uptake of radionuclide correlated to an anterior mediastinal mass seen on CT, biopsy specimens proved it to be a thymic carcinoid. Very few nuclear images of these lesions have been published in the literature. This is another example of the use of somatostatin analogue imaging in endocrine neoplasia.
