MESTRADO PROFISSIONAL EM ENSINO DE CIÊNCIAS DA UNB: REFLEXÕES SOBRE A FORMAÇÃO DE PROFESSORES-PESQUISADORES

2021
The aim of this article is to investigate how the Graduate Program in Science Teaching of University of Brasilia influences the professional insertion and teacher qualification of former students. In order to do so, the study investigated the professional performance of masters who graduated from 2006 to 2016. By doing so, the article intends to relate their performance to the reasons that led them to the Graduate Program and the contributions of the course to their professional practice. This is a qualitative case study research, carried out by using multiple-choice electronic questionnaires sent to graduates. The analysis indicated that the program’s graduates’ work isn’t restricted geographically to areas around where the program is held. In addition, it showed that their education process does not happen apart from the schools. The data also revealed that most graduates have continued to work in basic education, even though there has been an increase in technical and technological education. It can be inferred that the fundamental role of this program on the graduates’ professional lives is dual; it contributes to the improvement of basic education teaching, and to the education of the researchers. Thus, this work has shed light on discussions about the contributions and the gaps of the teacher education in the professional master’s degree of the area.
