As in all branches of medical practice, the injunction to “take a history and examine the patient” as the cardinal approach to diagnosis is entirely applicable to those who are injured by lightning. It is only in the proper eliciting and interpretation of symptoms and signs that proper diagnosis is made, and on which appropriate treatment is based.
