Satellite QoS Routing Algorithm Based on Energy Aware and Load Balancing

2020
With the rise of micro-satellite networks, a large number of low earth orbit(LEO) satellites can achieve global seamless coverage, and are expected to be combined with terrestrial networks to provide more multimedia applications. In order to meet the needs of different services transmission in the scenario of micro-satellite network with limited energy, this paper proposes a energy-aware traffic classification routing algorithm based on traffic characteristics. The key technology is to select different network metrics for route calculation according to services characteristics. The queuing delay is considered in the routing of low-latency services. For the reliability services, a energy-aware routing scheme is proposed, the parameters of satellite energy level division are defined, and different measures are taken according to different energy levels of the satellite to ensure data transmission. For ordinary services, a loop-free candidate path set routing scheme is proposed, which avoids grabbing resources with other services and guarantees the basic transmission when network resources are tight. Simulation verification shows that the energy-aware routing scheme proposed in this paper can extend the service life of the network under the condition of limited network energy, make the network have more uniform energy, reduce the packet loss rate, improve the throughput, and effectively ensure the reliable data transmission. The energy-aware traffic classification routing, especially in the case of network congestion and low energy levels, can meet the quality of service(QoS) requirements of different services, achieve network load balancing, and optimize the use of network resources.
