Issues Related to the WISC-V Assessment of Cognitive Functioning in Clinical and Special Groups

This chapter provides an overview of general issues related to identification of specific clinical disorders and special groups according to the DSM-5 with an emphasis on variability in cognitive functioning. WISC-V data for particular groups including intellectually gifted, mild and moderate intellectual disability, borderline intellectual functioning, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), disruptive behavior disorder (DBD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with and without language impairment, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) are presented to aid clinicians in understanding the profiles of various clinical and special groups.
