Danos causados por Nezara viridula (L.) em feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Em Sao Sepe, RS, foi realizado um estudo para determinar os danos causados por adultos de Nezara viridula (L.) sobre feijoeiro, variedade "mourinho", com infestacao em gaiolas. Os niveis de infestacao foram de 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 e 12 adultos, sem determinacao do sexo, por gaiola, contendo tres plantas. Considerou-se, ainda, um nivel de infestacao natural, fora da gaiola. Conclui-se que, a medida que aumenta a densidade de infestacao, ocorre um incremento no numero de legumes vazios e uma reducao do numero de graos e do rendimento. A reducao do poder germinativo das sementes colhidas e a incidencia da "mancha fermento ou de levedura", Nematospora corylii Peglion, sao proporcionais ao aumento da densidade de infestacao. Abstract A study was made to determine the damage of the southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula , on bean, variety "mourinho", at Sao Sepe, RS, Brazil, in cages. The infestation levels were 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 no sexed adults/cage and one natural level of infestation, uncaged. The increase of the infestation level produced more empty pods and reduced the seed numbers and the yield. The attack of this pentatomid reduced the germination rate of the harvested seeds and increased the incidente of the "yeast spot disease", Nematospora corylii Peglion, with the increase of the infestation level.
