This article examines a method for control of waste-gas and volumetric air flows already in successful use on a number of tunnel furnaces 1) . The essential feature of this control algorithm consists of the fact that the heating-up and cooling zones of the tunnel furnace are controlled by means of monitoring of the oxygen content in the furnace-chamber atmosphere using a multiple-variable control system.
