First peoples: A lesson in sustainability

When you enter the First Peoples exhibition in the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Melbourne Museum, you are greeted by the word Wominjeka, which means 'welcome' in the languages of the Kulin people of Melbourne. A large video screen slowly reveals the wonderfully diverse and striking panoramas that make up the state of Victoria, from alpine peaks to the sea, to desert country. Here students are introduced to the challenge of sustainability facing the fragile and diverse environments of Victoria.
