Orthogonal pulse design for UWB systems with timing jitter

2009
Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is very popular in this time. UWB offers a promising solution to the lack of radio frequency (RF) spectrum by allowing new services to coexist with current radio systems with minimal or no interference. Two crucial keys to communications success of UWB systems are pulse transmission power and timing jitter tolerance. These conditions can be control by the pulse shape design method that considers in our work [1]. In this paper, we upgrade the our proposed pulse to orthogonal pulse sets for improving the UWB systems capacity. The proposed pulses not only are mutually orthogonal pulse set, but also attain the adequate power to survive the noise floor and provide good resistance to the timing jitter. Our simulation results show the three examples of the our orthogonal pulse sets and the bit error rate (BER) between the proposed pulses and the convenient basic UWB pulse.
