The identity of the Philippine freshwater gecarcinucid crab, Para-Bary-thelphusa grapsoides subsp. Longipes Balss, 1937, currently placed in the genus Sundathelphusa , is clarified. Specimens that have been referred to this species previously are here shown to be a new species, S. holthuisi . The affinities and differences between these two species and its congener, S. celer Ng, 1991, are also discussed. In this chapter, the type of Sundathelphusa longipes is redescribed, its affinities to S. celer clarified, and the specimens previously referred to "S. longipe s" are here assigned to a new species, here named S. holthuisi . The material examined is deposited in the Museum fur Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universitat, Berlin; Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum - Naturalis, Leiden; and the Zoological Reference Collection (ZRC) of the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research, National University of Singapore.
