Central eastejri states (Lara, Portuguesa, Barinas and Cojedes)

In order to detect ten different viruses in the tomato producing areas in Central Eastern states of Venezuela, a sampling was taken in Lara, Barinas, Portuguesa and Cojedes states. Only 44 samples were collected due to the reduction of sown areas in the 94-95 growing season. The detection of viruses was made with Pathoscreen Kit, Agdia. Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus (ZYMV.1 was observed in a high frequency in Lara state alone form or in association with Cucumber Mosaic Virus. Barinas state showed ZYMV and Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus without association. The association of ZYMV and Potato Y Virus appeared in Portuguesa state. No virus was detected in Cojedes state.
