Pápulas e placas urticariformes e pruriginosas da gravidez (PUPPP): relato de caso

Introduction: The urticarial and pruritic papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) correspond to benign inflammatory skin rashes, extremely pruritic, commonly appearing in the third trimester of primiparous pregnancies. The lesions were urticarial papules, located initially in the abdomen region, usually disappearing immediately after delivery, and with no tendency to relapse in subsequent pregnancies. Aim: In view of the scarcity of studies on the disease, the present research seeks to describe the case of a patient treated at our Service, seeking to provide information that can guide the medical team to make the best clinical decision regarding the patient with PUPPP. Method: This is a single case study where it is intended to describe a patient seen at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Service of Hospital Universitario Sao Francisco in Providencia de Deus - HUSF, located in the city of Braganca Paulista – SP, Brazil. Results: It was a 26-year-old pregnant woman with oriental features, with pseudovesicular pruritic lesions distributed over the entire body surface, which presented hyperemia and hyaline secretion. After the failure of treatment with antibiotics (betamethasone and hydroxyzine), the immunosuppressive dosage of prednisone reversed the symptoms related to PUPPP. Conclusion: Prednisone is the most effective medication for remission of symptoms related to PUPPP. However, complicated conditions must be referred to the dermatologist, and must be evaluated with the aid of laboratory, histological and immunological exams.
