The Deprivation Cost in Humanitarian Logistics: A Systematic Review
2021
The main objective of humanitarian logistics is to save lives and alleviate human suffering before and after a disaster onset. However, the available resources may not be enough to meet the beneficiaries’ demand. Thus, the deprivation cost is a way of quantifying human suffering, given an unmet demand. In this paper, we carried out a systematic review of the literature covering deprivation cost and unmet demand to analyze the state of the art of modelling in humanitarian logistics. With the results obtained, we deliver a taxonomy to synthesize the models used. Finally, we suggest directions for future studies.
