Catalytic degradation of acid red B in the system of ultrasound/peroxymonosulfate/Fe3O4

2021
Abstract The wastewater containing azo dyes wastewater features high chroma, difficult degradation and great harm to the environment. It is difficult to meet the increasingly stringent requirements for industrial wastewater discharge using traditional water treatment methods. In this paper, degradation of Acid Red B in the system of ultrasound/peroxymonosulfate/Fe3O4 was investigated. The effects of Fe3O4 dosage, peroxymonosulfate dosage, ultrasonic power, ultrasonic frequency, initial azo dye concentration and initial pH value on degradation were studied through orthogonal experiments. Besides, through single factor experiment, the influence of various factors on the degradation was determined in the system of ultrasound/peroxymonosulfate/Fe3O4. Ethanol and tert-Butanol were used to study the dominant radicals in the system. NaH2PO4, NaHCO3 and NaCl were added to study the degradation effect of inorganic anions on acid red B. Finally, ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer was used to scan the spectrum to analyze the degradation path of acid red B in the system of ultrasound/ peroxymonosulfate/Fe3O4. The results indicate that proposed method is of great potential application value in removal of organic pollution and environmental purification.
