Technical Renovation of Large Special Working Vessels Conversion of Special Soft Mattress Laying Ships into Floating Pile Drivers

To make full use of the demobilized large special working vessels and to increase the market competitiveness for offshore piling works,it is necessary to renovate Mattress Laying Ship No.1 and Mattress Laying Ship No.2 into Floating Pile Dri-ver No.19 and Floating Pile Driver No.20.The paper gives a description of the renovation of the pile driving system and the results showed that the performance and quality of the renovated floating pile drivers met the design requirements,the renovation period was shortened,the cost of renovation was cut down and the diesel and hydraulic pile hammers were interchangeable.
